Will J.K. Dobbins Bounce Back From a Torn Achilles in 2024? - Fantasy Football Injury Update, Outlook

J.K. Dobbins - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, Draft Sleepers

Is J.K. Dobbins injured or healthy? Will J.K. Dobbins play in Week 1? Read the latest J.K. Dobbins fantasy football injury updates and outlook.

J.K. Dobbins signed a one-year, $1.6 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason. The Baltimore Ravens drafted him with the 55th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but Dobbins left the team in free agency after an injury-ridden tenure.

The 25-year-old running back suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1 of the last season. It was the second major injury of his NFL career, as he suffered an ACL injury as well in 2021, which resulted in him missing the entire season.

What's the latest on Dobbins? Will he play in Week 1 for the Chargers this season? Let's take a look at his injury update and fantasy outlook for the 2024 NFL season.

J.K. Dobbins Injury Update for Fantasy Football

As per reports, Dobbins is fully healthy and is on track to play in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders. He is also expected to feature in preseason games, and it will help him get back on track after a long absence.

As of now, Dobbins is the RB2 on the Chargers' depth chart, and he will work with another former Ravens running back, i.e., Gus Edwards. However, if the Ohio State product stays healthy, we could see him improving to the franchise's RB1 as the season progresses.

Dobbins has played only 24 games in his first four seasons in the league, and it will be important for him to stay healthy this year to position himself into getting a good contract next offseason.

J.K. Dobbins Fantasy Football Outlook 2024

The Chargers drafted offensive tackle Joe Alt with the fifth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and they have formed a solid offensive line for their first season under Jim Harbaugh. The Chargers are expected to rely heavily on their running backs this season, which will result in more touches for Dobbins.

For Dobbins, everything depends on his health, as the team is constructed around his strengths. Greg Roman is the new Chargers' offensive coordinator, and he knows how good Dobbins is as they both worked together in Baltimore.

In his rookie season, the former Ravens running back had 134 carries for 805 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games, averaging 6.0 yards per carry. Since then, he has struggled with injuries, but the Chargers know that Dobbins has a huge upside and can help them become a playoff team this year.

Dobbins currently has an average draft position (ADP) of #144 and will be a good player to target in the last few rounds of your drafts or even on the waiver list.
