Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan will be looking to get more involved in the flow of the passing game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. In terms of receptions and yardage, McMillan has not been productive over the last two weeks, totaling 62 yards on six catches.
However, in Week 6, he did reward those who started him in fantasy football with two touchdown receptions. McMillan needs to click with quarterback Andy Dalton if the Panthers hope to stay close with the Bills. If Buffalo races away with the lead, though, McMillan could pad his numbers in catch-up mode.
The matchup is not daunting, as the Bills rank 15th in fantasy points per game to wide receivers over the past four weeks (30.3). Continue to start McMillan as you normally would as a fantasy WR2/3. While the numbers have been disappointing recently, he is capable of showing his upside in any given week.
Quinshon Judkins, RB, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins turned in a huge game in a 31-6 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 7. On a rainy, windy day in Cleveland, the Browns leaned on Judkins, who rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
The rookie runner will look to keep it going on the road in Week 8 against the New England Patriots. New England has been dominant against the run this season, allowing just the 27th-most fantasy points per game this year.
Judkins has a difficult matchup, but he has been a true workhorse for Cleveland this season and should push for at least another 20 touches this weekend. Treat him as a high-end RB2 heading into Week 8.
TreVeyon Henderson, RB, New England Patriots
New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson saw his snap share decrease last weekend, so his fantasy outlook remains relatively bleak for Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns. The rookie played just 14 percent of the offensive snaps, which was his lowest mark so far this year.
He finished with two carries and zero targets while teammate Rhamondre Stevenson had 20 touches, albeit with decent efficiency. While Stevenson has been playing well, the Patriots didn't draft Henderson to ride the bench, so his usage has been quite confusing. Until we see Henderson carve out a near-50 percent snap share and represent a threat to Stevenson's position atop the depth chart, the rookie can be avoided in fantasy football.
That's especially true this week against the Browns, who have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to running backs. Redraft and dynasty managers would be wise to leave him on their bench, as he is a solid handcuff and possesses long-term upside.
Mason Taylor, TE, New York Jets
New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor (quad) could not come through for fantasy managers in last Sunday's loss to the Panthers, but will look to rebound in Week 8's meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals. The LSU product tied for the team lead in receptions (three) in their 13-6 loss.
Although he could only record 31 yards as New York's offense bottomed out against an underrated Panthers defense. Taylor should have increased opportunity again, as in addition to wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) being ruled out for a second consecutive contest, Josh Reynolds (hip) is in danger of missing after a late-week hip injury.
While it's unclear precisely who will quarterback for New York this weekend, the rookie is at least poised for a juicy matchup. He'll slot in as RotoBaller's PPR TE15 ahead of this weekend's slate of action.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt broke out for 150 total yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 against the Chargers, but he has disappointed in the past two weeks despite favorable matchups. Croskey-Merritt is still the clear No. 1 back in Washington, posting his three highest rushing attempt and route participation rates of the season over the past three weeks.
The seventh-round rookie has still been one of the most efficient runners in the league despite the two-week lull, posting the third-highest success rate (60.3%) and eighth-highest explosive rush rate (6.8%) among running backs with at least 50 carries. He's not as involved in the passing game, which lowers his ceiling a tad, but he is still capable of delivering a big fantasy performance.
He'll face a Kansas City Chiefs defense that hasn't been great on a down-to-down basis, ranking 22nd in rush success rate (42.6%). Croskey-Merritt ranks as RotoBaller's RB23 in PPR leagues for Week 8.
