Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 4:
Bhayshul Tuten, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten (shoulder) remained a limited participant at Thursday's practice as he battles through a shoulder injury.
The Virginia Tech product logged a week's worth of limited practices ahead of the team's win over the Houston Texans in Week 3, but would still suit up for the contest. However, Tuten saw his snap share decrease as fellow rookie rusher LeQuint Allen Jr. picked up extra work. Despite the discrepancy, the former out-touched the latter 6-1. Tuten looks to be the second option out of the backfield behind starter Travis Etienne Jr., and now we know the team is comfortable trotting him out there on less-than-ideal practice reps.
As of now, he should be a go for Jacksonville's road outing with the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday. Allen Jr. would operate as the change-of-pace option behind Etienne Jr. if he's not.
Quinshon Judkins, RB, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins delivered a standout performance in Sunday's surprising 13-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers. He carried the ball 18 times for 94 yards and scored a game-tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
The highly touted rookie running back also caught one pass for one yard. Judkins' impressive showing came against one of the league's best defenses, solidifying his role as the team's lead back.
Kyle Monangai, RB, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai had a quiet statistical game in his team's Week 3 win over the Dallas Cowboys, finishing with 20 yards from scrimmage on seven total touches.
Bears RB1 D'Andre Swift still appears to have a strong hold on the backfield touches in Chicago, as Swift finished with 78 yards from scrimmage on 16 total touches. Neither Bears running back is averaging four yards per carry so far this season, so Monangai could work his way into a larger workload if he can improve his production over the course of the season.
In deep fantasy leagues, the 23-year-old could be a worthy stash candidate depending on overall roster construction.
Omarion Hampton, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton is set to take on a much larger role after veteran Najee Harris suffered a torn Achilles in Week 3's 23-20 win over the Denver Broncos. With Harris sidelined for the season, the Chargers will lean heavily on their first-round pick.
Hampton delivered in Week 3, handling 19 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown, while also contributing six catches for 59 yards through the air. His all-around performance drew high praise from head coach Jim Harbaugh, who said after the game, "Man, what a game (Hampton) had. How about that?!"
With volume on his side and a favorable schedule ahead, Hampton profiles as a high-end RB2 with the upside to finish even higher as the season progresses.
Kaleb Johnson, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Kaleb Johnson is expected to be a healthy scratch for Sunday's game, according to a source at Steelers Depot.
The team elevated running back Trey Sermon from the practice squad on Saturday, a strong indication that Johnson will be a healthy scratch. The third-round pick out of Iowa has had a limited role in the first two weeks, logging just two rushes for negative one yard. His inactive status follows a notable special teams gaffe last week, in which he failed to field a kickoff, resulting in a Seattle touchdown.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has stated that Johnson "will likely not return kickoffs in the short term," further cementing his demotion. Johnson holds no fantasy value at this time and can be left on waivers or stashed in deeper leagues.
