Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 12:
Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier continues to earn goal-line opportunities, and his three touchdowns over the Falcons' last two games have salvaged his otherwise uninspiring performances. Allgeier has 14 carries for 67 yards over those two contests, plus a pair of receptions.
However, he also has three rushing touchdowns, scoring at least 9.6 fantasy points (PPR) in each of the two games. The Falcons have shown a tendency to give the ball to their running backs around the goal line, as Bijan Robinson and Allgeier have combined for five touchdowns over the last two games, including three last Sunday. As long as there are enough goal-line opportunities to go around, Allgeier should continue to score touchdowns at a promising rate.
He remains in the RB3/flex tier ahead of Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints, but managers must accept the fact that his value is heavily dependent on finding the end zone. As a result, he's more of a matchup-based play rest-of-season.
Bam Knight, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Bam Knight (ankle) was listed as a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned about the ankle issue right now. However, Knight could be losing playing time soon with Trey Benson (knee) having his practice window opened this week.
The eventual return of Benson is going to cloud up this backfield situation even more. Right now, Emari Demercado (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 12. That means, Knight and Michael Carter should split up the reps unless Benson returns this week. Barring any setbacks, Knight figures to be out there this weekend, but his fantasy value is unclear at the moment.
Tony Pollard, RB, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard had 10 carries for 22 yards in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 11. Pollard also had three catches for four yards on three targets. The 28-year-old veteran scored a season low of 5.6 fantasy points and was out-snapped for the third time this season by backfield mate Tyjae Spears.
Since Week 6, Pollard has only been able to eclipse over eight fantasy points once. The former explosive fantasy favorite has become a low-upside, touchdown-dependent flex option for managers. Pollard has been unable to find paydirt for a fifth straight week and has only been able to find the end zone twice this year.
Heading into Week 12, Tony Pollard will be a desperation flex option in deeper leagues in a difficult matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
George Pickens, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said on Tuesday that he is "very in favor" of the team signing wide receiver George Pickens to a long-term contract extension, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. The Cowboys acquired Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers this past offseason but have not yet locked him into a contract beyond the 2025 season.
Across 10 games in his first season in Dallas, the 24-year-old has recorded 58 catches for 908 yards and seven touchdowns on 83 targets. Pickens is on pace for career-high marks across the board and appears to be the perfect complement to star Cowboys wideout CeeDee Lamb.
However, Pickens has a history of off-field issues and was benched for the first offensive series of Dallas' Week 11 win over the Las Vegas Raiders for reasons that remain unclear. Still, Schottenheimer has remained effusive in his praise of Pickens and is apparently on board with continuing to work with him in the years to come.
Sterling Shepard, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Sterling Shepard (shoulder) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. Shepard will join fellow wideouts Chris Godwin (leg) and Emeka Egbuka (illness) on the injury report to begin the week.
Shepard appears to be dealing with a minor shoulder injury, but it shouldn't stop him from suiting up in Week 12. His fantasy value is likely dependent on whether or not Godwin is able to return this weekend.
Last week, Shepard hauled in four of his five targets for 54 yards in the loss to the Buffalo Bills. The veteran wideout would take a backseat in the passing game if Godwin and Egbuka are both healthy.
