Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football waiver wire outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider adding off waivers in Week 8:

Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (fibula) missed his team's Week 7 loss to the Lions on Monday Night Football, and even though he's recovering, head coach Todd Bowles didn't seem confident that the veteran receiver will be ready to return in Week 8 against the Saints.

With a bye week in Week 9, the Bucs may play it safe with Godwin, who played two games after returning from his dislocated ankle and broken fibula suffered last season. This leg injury is in a different place, according to Bowles, but he still looks like a long shot to play in Week 8.

If Godwin is out again, he'll join Mike Evans (collarbone) on the sidelines, leaving lots of work for rookies Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson, while Cade Otton would also stay more involved as a pass-catching tight end option.

Bam Knight, RB, Arizona Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals running back Michael Carter took over RB1 duties in the backfield in Week 5 in the first game without Trey Benson (knee), but since then, it's been Bam Knight leading the way. For a second straight contest in the Week 7 loss to the visiting Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Knight was the Cardinals' clear backfield leader, handling 14 carries for 57 yards while also catching three of his four targets for seven yards.

Carter, meanwhile, had seven carries for only 11 yards and caught both of his targets for 25 yards through the air. The 24-year-old Knight now has 25 rushing attempts for 91 yards and a touchdown while adding four catches (six targets) for 27 yards as a pass-catcher the last two weeks as the team's preferred choice out of the backfield.

Arizona has a bye in Week 8, but Knight should be the Cardinals' RB1 for at least another game in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys with Benson on Injured Reserve.

Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. showcases his efficiency once again as he takes six catches for 85 yards and one carry for 13 yards in Sunday's 33-32 comeback win over the New York Giants. Mims Jr. would also continue his role on special teams as he returned two punts for 29 yards on the day.

In what has been a choppy season for fantasy purposes from the 23-year-old wide receiver, Mims Jr. continues to give reasons for Broncos head coach Sean Payton to get him the ball more often.

As the Broncos could be in line for a shootout against the Dallas Cowboys at home next week, Mims Jr. might be an intriguing flex option as he still presents boom/ bust usage.

Tre Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders

As expected, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker led the team in receiving in the Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, with both tight end Brock Bowers (knee) and receiver Jakobi Meyers (knee, toe) out.

However, even in a game with plenty of positive game script in a 31-0 blowout loss, Tucker only managed to produce 33 receiving yards on five catches (six targets). The 24-year-old led the Raiders in targets, catches, and receiving yards, but quarterback Geno Smith didn't have much of a chance in obvious pass situations after the Chiefs got out to a big lead early and never looked back.

Tucker is going to remain a big part of the Raiders' passing attack the rest of the year, but his opportunities might be harder to come by if both Bowers and Meyers are able to return in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars after their Week 8 bye. In his third NFL season, Tucker has 29 catches on 39 targets for 389 yards and a career-high four touchdowns through seven weeks.

Darnell Mooney, WR, Atlanta Falcons

In his first game action since Week 4 due to injury, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney was the team's leading receiver in Sunday night's 20-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, catching three of his five targets for 68 yards.

While his 68 yards led the team on a night where Atlanta's offense was stuck in the mud, Mooney's targets were third behind receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. Most of the 27-year-old's production came on a 38-yard hookup with quarterback Michael Penix Jr. late in the second quarter. Mooney and the Falcons' passing game have a get-right matchup upcoming this Sunday against the 1-6 Miami Dolphins, but he figures to continue to be an inconsistent boom/bust WR4/flex for fantasy football managers.

Mooney has caught only 10 of his 21 targets through four games this year for 147 yards, and he has yet to find the end zone. He's currently rostered in just 29% of Yahoo leagues. Don't rule him out as a decent flex streamer this week with six teams on bye.
