Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football waiver wire outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider adding off waivers in Week 4:
Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice session. This is the first time this season that Godwin has been able to go through a full session. The 29-year-old has missed the first three games of the season while recovering from an ankle injury he suffered last year.
The fact Godwin was able to get through a full session on Wednesday is a great sign for this weekend. Barring any setbacks, Godwin should be able to get out there for his season debut against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.
It comes at a good time for the Bucs who just lost Mike Evans (hamstring) for a few weeks. Godwin figures to play a significant role in the offense right away.
Kareem Hunt, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt logged 10 carries for 34 yards and a touchdown in his team's 22-9 Week 3 win over the New York Giants. Hunt has rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries this season, adding four catches for 23 yards on five targets as well.
While the 30-year-old has not been efficient on a per-touch basis, he could still be slowly stealing a larger share of the workload from Chiefs running back Isaiah Pacheco. Over the last two weeks, Hunt has recorded 20 touches, compared to 22 for Pacheco.
Hunt may not have a ton of fantasy upside, but he should be rostered in deep leagues. In a tough Week 4 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, both Chiefs' backs profile as low-end RB3/flex options.
Darnell Mooney, WR, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney drew 11 targets in Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Panthers, three more than No. 1 receiver Drake London. Unfortunately, he was only able to haul in four of those targets, tallying 44 yards in the process and no scores.
The 27-year-old's involvement is encouraging, but it seems that after three weeks, Michael Penix Jr.'s efficiency (47.9 QBR - 20th) and short passes (6.1 yards per attempt - 24th) are going to limit the entire receiving corps in terms of receptions, yardage, and touchdowns, at least in the short term. On occasion last season, Mooney outtargeted London, but he earned double-digit targets just one time in 16 games played (compared to eight times for London), so this type of target share should not be expected going forward.
Nevertheless, it appears the Tulane product is fully healthy after missing Week 1 with a shoulder injury, and he should settle in as an every-week PPR Flex option at a minimum. The 5-foot-11 wideout gets a favorable home matchup in Week 4 against the Commanders in what should be a competitive game, as Washington is only 1.5-point favorites early in the week.
Braelon Allen, RB, New York Jets
New York Jets running back Braelon Allen ran well in Week 3's 29-27 loss to the hosting Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but fell victim to a negative game script and failed to gain traction. Allen led starting rusher Breece Hall on Sunday with 30 yards on six carries (9/21), but both trailed quarterback Tyrod Taylor (8/48).
The 21-year-old also pulled in both of his targets for 17 more yards, marking his highest usage this season. It mainly was for not, though, as New York was further behind in this one than the box score would suggest. While Allen doesn't quite yet present with standalone value - primarily due to his offensive environment - he appears to be New York's preferred short-yardage option.
He boasts two more red zone carries (four) than backfield mate Breece Hall and the lone touchdown between them. The Wisconsin product remains a high-end handcuff.
Blake Corum, RB, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum gained 53 yards on eight carries in Sunday's 33-26 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Los Angeles collapsed late after commanding a significant lead over the reigning Super Bowl champions.
Still, Corum continued to see an increase in his volume for the second straight week. Backfield mate Kyren Williams had handily outsnapped him 92-28 through the first two weeks, and did so again on Sunday (50-16).
However, the 24-year-old has been the more efficient runner, posting three yards more per carry than his veteran counterpart (7.1). Corum won't be seizing the RB1 role in LA any time soon, but he's firmly on the high-end handcuff radar. We'll see if he can continue trending up when the Rams take on the surprise 3-0 Indianapolis Colts in Week 4.
