When Will Spencer Arrighetti, Ketel Marte, Royce Lewis Return? Fantasy Baseball Injury Update

Ketel Marte - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB injury News

When will Arrighetti, Marte, and Lewis return and play? Will Arrighetti, Marte, and Lewis be back again this season? Read the latest fantasy baseball injury updates and return date for Week 4 of the 2025 MLB season.

Fantasy managers have already started looking for replacements for injured players, as the injury list is becoming quite crowded. Even though we are only just starting the fourth week of the MLB season, several must-start options are currently on the injured list.

In this piece, we will analyze the latest injury update on Houston Astros starting pitcher Spencer Arrighetti (thumb), Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte (hamstring), and Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis (hamstring). When healthy, all three players would be viewed as a strong option at their respective positions.

When should fantasy managers expect these players to return to their respective lineups? Let's dive in.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Spencer Arrighetti Injury Update For Fantasy Baseball

Spencer Arrighetti made his MLB debut last season. While he had to endure some growing pains, he flashed elite strikeout upside, which made him an intriguing breakout pick entering the 2025 campaign.

Last season, Arrighetti tallied double-digit punchouts in four starts and hit the seven-strikeout mark in 10 of his 29 appearances. He also showed steady progression during his rookie season, posting a strong 3.18 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP across 65 innings of work in the second half. This was a stark improvement compared to the 5.63 ERA and 1.60 WHIP he had in the first half.

He looked strong in his 2025 debut as he tossed six innings of one-run ball against the New York Mets. However, in his second start, he allowed five runs in just three 2/3 innings against the Twins.

Shortly after this start, the team announced Arrighetti was being placed on the 15-day injured list with a fractured right thumb. The right-hander sustained this injury by being struck by a ball during batting practice.

However, the 25-year-old does not have to undergo surgery and appears to have avoided a lengthy absence. According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Arrighetti will be in a cast for about two weeks before undergoing more imaging.

While Arrighetti will be sidelined for most of May, he could still return relatively early in the first half of the campaign. While he is sidelined, Ryan Gusto should continue to have a spot in the starting rotation.

Given Arrighetti's strikeout upside, he is worth holding in all standard category formats.

Ketel Marte Injury Update For Fantasy Baseball

Ketel Marte was one of the most valuable players in fantasy baseball last season as he posted a .292/.372/.560 slash line with 36 home runs and seven stolen bases. He added 23 doubles and brought in 95 runs.

He got off to a hot start in 2025 as well, holding a .346/.469/.462 line through eight games.

However, the 31-year-old switch-hitter hit the injured list on April 5 with a left hamstring strain. Marte exited the previous game early after suffering the injury while running on the basepaths.

Shortly after the transaction, manager Torey Lovullo noted that Marte would miss a "series of weeks" and that they did not have a definitive timeline.

However, on April 12, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports noted that Marte began light baseball activities such as fielding groundballs and taking swings in a batting cage.

The 31-year-old continued to progress well as he was able to take live at-bats for the first time since suffering the injury on April 15.

Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress, but it appears Marte is beginning to turn the corner.

While he remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Garrett Hampson and Tim Tawa to share time at the keystone. In addition, shortstop Geraldo Perdomo will likely continue to bat at the top of the lineup, which will provide him with high-scoring opportunities.

Once Marte returns, Perdomo will likely drop to the back half of the batting order, which will lower his fantasy value.

Marte remains a must-stash candidate in all formats as he recovers.

Royce Lewis Injury Update For Fantasy Baseball

The final player we will take a look at is Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis. The former first overall pick from the 2017 MLB Draft is no stranger to the injury list. The 25-year-old has only surpassed the 80-game mark once in his three-year MLB career.

Lewis suffered this hamstring strain during spring training. He opened the season on the injured list.

During the first week of April, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reported that Lewis began participating in light activities and was approximately three weeks into his "six-to-eight week" recovery window.

Lewis continued to make steady progress as he hit another milestone on April 14 when he began participating in baseball activities, according to Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune. Then, on April 22, Lewis was able to participate in sprints for the first time since suffering the injury.

Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears Lewis has made significant strides in his recovery process. However, the team has yet to provide a clear timetable for Lewis' estimated return date despite his progress.

While he remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect a mix of Willi Castro, Brooks Lee, and Jonah Bride to share time at the hot corner. However, when Lewis returns, he may be forced to spend time at DH to ensure he is still healthy, which could keep both Castro and Lee in everyday roles.

Fantasy managers may be reluctant to stash Lewis due to his injury history, but they should continue to try to hold on to him for the time being. When he is on the field, Lewis has flashed elite power upside. In 2023, Lewis went deep 15 times and held a .548 SLG across 58 games. Last season, despite numerous injuries, he still posted a strong .452 SLG with 16 round-trippers.

When healthy, he should be viewed as a low-end No. 1 third baseman in all formats.
