When is Noelvi Marte getting called up? Will Noelvi Marte play in June of this MLB season? Read about Noelvi Marte's debut date and fantasy baseball prospect updates for 2024.
Getting a late start to your season is one thing. Missing an entire half of the season only to return to face big-league pitching in mid-season form is a whole other animal.
That's the situation Reds prospect Noelvi Marte could potentially be facing after serving his 80-game suspension for a positive performance-enhancing drug test. Marte is eligible to return from his suspension on June 27, but it's far from a sure thing the club will automatically promote the 22-year-old with the left side of the Reds' infield largely leading the club's offensive attack.
Let's dive in and see where Marte is currently at on his path back to the big leagues and what fantasy managers can expect if/when he gets his second promotion to The Show.

Noelvi Marte Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
Marte began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on June 11, and it appears he has yet to find his footing in a small sample. The third baseman is just 4-for-22 (.182) with a double and seven strikeouts against zero walks across 22 trips to the plate so far with Louisville. He hasn't attempted to a stolen base to this point after he swiped a solid 14 bags in 74 games between Louisville and Cincinnati last season.

Of course, a five-game sample is hardly enough to draw concrete conclusions, especially since his last appearance was in spring training on March 7. At the same time, veteran Jeimer Candelario has enjoyed a nice season at the hot corner, hitting 12 homers with a .797 OPS across 64 games. That type of production is more than enough to let Marte get comfortable in the minors before any big-league promotion is necessary.
Noelvi Marte Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
Marte's spring suspension hit even harder, considering the type of debut he had a season ago. The Dominican Republic product hit .316 with three homers, six stolen bases, and a .822 OPS across 35 games in 2023, production that graded out 20% above the league average, as per his 120 wRC+.

His 46.1% hard-hit rate, .340 xwOBA, and 91st percentile sprint speed, as per Statcast, from last season backed up the excellent surface results, even if his .384 BABIP had nowhere to go but south.
Marte might not get the call to the big leagues right away as he works his way back into tip-top form but he continues to hold appeal in redraft leagues while dynasty managers surely want to exercise patience on the youngster.
