When is Nick Kurtz getting called up? Will Nick Kurtz play in April of this MLB season? Read about Nick Kurtz's debut date and fantasy baseball prospect updates for 2025.
There has been no minor league hitter hotter at the plate to begin the season than Athletics top prospect Nick Kurtz. The Athletics selected Kurtz with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, and all he has done in the minors is rake.
As a result, Kurtz should find his way on the major league roster very soon. He has over a .350 career batting average in 27 minor league games, and his plus power should play well for the Athletics this season, considering the team is playing all of its home games at a minor league ballpark.
But when can we expect Kurtz to be called up? Should fantasy managers stash him? Let's dive in and find out.

Nick Kurtz Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
It's only a matter of time until Kurtz is promoted to the big leagues. He hit .368 with four home runs, three doubles, and 13 RBI across 12 games in 2024, and the left-handed slugger is off to a phenomenal start this season. The 22-year-old is batting .344 with seven home runs, six doubles, and 22 RBI in just 15 games at Triple-A.
Nick Kurtz combination of power and contact ability could make him one of the most feared batters in MLB very soon

It has been a special start to the year for Kurtz in Triple-A. He is smashing the ball right now, and there's no doubt he has the potential to make an immediate impact in the majors. Given the way he is hitting the ball this season, fantasy managers should expect him to be promoted within the next few weeks.
Brent Rooker is starting to see more time in the outfield, and the Athletics are open to giving Tyler Soderstrom some reps at third base moving forward. That means we are surely close to seeing Kurtz in the big leagues.
Nick Kurtz Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
It's hard to look at what Kurtz has done at Triple-A this season and not believe he is MLB-ready. Therefore, MLB Pipeline's No. 35 overall prospect should be stashed in every fantasy league moving forward. Even though he has yet to make his debut, the first baseman has such a high fantasy ceiling. He has elite plate discipline, and his power makes him a worthy stash candidate.

While we don't exactly know when Kurtz will make his debut, it's coming sometime in 2025. With the Athletics moving some players around in the field, it's apparent the team has already discussed a possible promotion. As a result, the slugger could be called up by Memorial Day weekend.
