Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitching prospect Bubba Chandler is viewed as the top pitching prospect in the sport on MLB.com. Last season, he quickly progressed through the system and was a popular late-round target this season as he appeared just weeks away from his MLB debut.

However, Chandler has struggled at times this season and has yet to earn the call to Pittsburgh.

Bubba Chandler Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball

On Friday, Chandler enjoyed a much-needed bounce-back outing as he tossed six scoreless frames against the Triple-A Louisville. In this start, Chandler struck out six batters and allowed just five hits and two walks.

Over his previous 12 2/3 innings (five starts), the budding ace posted a high 8.53 ERA with a 2.29 WHIP.

This start was a significant step in the right direction and could put Chandler back in the conversation to earn a promotion before the end of July.

Bubba Chandler Outlook for Fantasy Baseball

Prior to his rough skid in June, Chandler appeared to be the next young breakout pitcher in baseball. Through his first 48 2/3 innings of the campaign at Triple-A Indianapolis, the right-hander struck out 69 batters while posting a 2.03 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP.

During his first taste of Triple-A last season, Chandler posted an elite 1.83 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP.

Fantasy's managers should continue to view Chandler as a top stash option in standard leagues, as he may only need a handful more starts before earning the call to Pittsburgh.
