Week 8 Running Back Outlooks for Fantasy Football

Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns - Fantasy Football Outlook

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb made a triumphant return to the field last week as he scored a touchdown in his first game in over a year. He will look to keep it going in Week 8's home game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens have been very beatable through the air this season, but they have been tough against the run, allowing the 20th-most fantasy points per game to running backs thus far. Chubb should get the majority of the work on early downs, but he still settles in as an RB3 in fantasy, thanks to the challenging matchup.

- Matt T., RotoBaller

Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Fantasy Football Outlook

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White continued his struggles on the ground but put together a strong fantasy performance last week. White rushed 10 times for 40 yards but hauled in six receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Bucs are using a three-man committee, which makes it difficult for any of these backs to have reliable fantasy value. However, White should be the best choice out of the trio due to his ability in the receiving game. The Bucs will be without wide receivers Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (ankle) for the foreseeable future.

That means White will probably see more chances in the receiving game going forward. Fantasy managers in PPR formats might be able to trust White as an RB1 for the upcoming matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. White rushed for a season-high 72 yards against Atlanta during their last meeting.

- Andy Webb, RotoBaller

Alexander Mattison, Las Vegas Raiders - Fantasy Football Outlook

Las Vegas Raiders running back Alexander Mattison will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. He had to compete with fellow RB Zamir White for touches, but took the lion's share of the backfield work. The former Viking rushed 23 times for 92 yards and caught three passes for 31 yards in the team's 15-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams last week.

He'll face a much tougher defense this week. The Chiefs have allowed just 14.0 PPR fantasy points per game to opposing running backs -- no other team has allowed less than 17. He's a decent RB3/FLEX option in deeper leagues due to his pass-catching upside and potential workload. Even if the Raiders get blown out, he could see a decent number of passes thrown his way.

- John Johnson, RotoBaller
