Shortstop (SS) Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Points Leagues - February Updates (2025)

Gunnar Henderson - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

RotoBaller's shortstop (SS) points league fantasy baseball rankings, updated for February 2025. Win your drafts with our points league and H2H points rankings.

The fantasy baseball offseason is starting to heat up as we are getting closer to the heart of it. At RotoBaller HQ, we have been providing fantasy baseball content daily and are back with more rankings. Today, our MLB team breaks down the shortstop position with our 2025 fantasy baseball shortstop rankings and tiers for points leagues and H2H points leagues.

Shortstop is loaded with talent, with Bobby Witt Jr. leading the way as the top overall player. At the same time, Gunnar Henderson, Mookie Betts, Elly De La Cruz, Francisco Lindor, and Trea Turner are all ranked within the top 25 overall in our points rankings. The position is loaded from top to bottom, as 12 shortstops hit 20-plus home runs last year while 15 shortstops swiped 20 bags or more. If you miss out on the top shortstops, there are still plenty of viable starting options in middle to late rounds in upcoming fantasy drafts.

The SS rankings below are specifically designed for fantasy baseball points leagues, put together by RotoBaller's MLB points expert Nicklaus Gaut. We also have many other fantasy baseball rankings, tools, and resources to help you win in 2025, including our constantly-updated fantasy baseball points rankings for all positions. SS Points Rankings for Fantasy Baseball (February)

These shortstop rankings are for points and head-to-head points leagues. You can also see our roto fantasy baseball rankings.

Before we get to the rankings, let's quickly review points leagues and how they differ from other formats. Typically, points leagues have different league settings and scoring formats than other fantasy baseball leagues. Different MLB stats and categories are assigned different point values, and those can vary by individual league settings. Those different point buckets are then added up over the course of a scoring period or season.

In many cases, hitters who walk more and strike out less are preferred for points leagues. Also, many league formats tend to give more weight to pitchers than normal, as they can easily accrue points through categories like Innings Pitched. These are the general frameworks that we use for our points league rankings below, and explain why they look different than more standard 5x5 roto fantasy baseball rankings.
