Time to Drop Tank Bigsby? Fantasy Football Week 2 Waiver Wire Outlook (2025)

Tank Bigsby - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire

Should I drop Tank Bigsby for fantasy football Week 2? Is Tank Bigsby a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football Week 2 waiver wire outlook.

Running back Tank Bigsby was a player seen as primed for a breakout in the 2025 NFL season. After a 2024 year in which he put up a few massive games, often outproducing fellow RB Travis Etienne Jr. as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, he was regularly selected in the middle to late rounds of fantasy drafts.

Yet he's no longer even on the team. The Jags traded Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles just recently, meaning he'll now join a backfield featuring running backs Saquon Barkley and Will Shipley (ribs). Obviously, this isn't great news for Bigsby.

He'll likely now spend most of his time on the sidelines as Barkley continues to carry the workhorse load for the Eagles. Bigsby is clearly not the talent the possible future Hall of Fame player Barkley is. So should you drop Bigsby in fantasy leagues?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Should I Drop Tank Bigsby in Fantasy Football?

Currently, Shipley is dealing with a fractured rib injury. Now, Barkley, Shipley, Bigsby, and A.J. Dillon are the team's top-4 backs, with Shipley likely to miss at least some time, meaning that Bigsby will compete with Dillon for the RB2 position. The move was purportedly made to add depth to the room and to use Bigsby's services as a kick returner.

As long as Barkley is healthy, Bigsby really doesn't have any upside. Barkley is so much better than the other RBs in that room that the team designs its offensive game plans to revolve around running the ball as much as possible. Barkley was a generational RB prospect and showed just how valuable he is in 2024.

Additionally, it's unclear if Bigsby will be able to beat out Shipley for the RB2 job, or if Dillon has enough juice to command a significant role in case of a potential Barkley injury. Things just aren't clear right now. In deeper leagues, you should probably hang on to Bigsby, but in leagues with shallow benches, he's worth dropping.

His only value appears to be in leagues that count return yardage for fantasy scoring or purely as a handcuff to Barkley.

Who Should I Pickup for Fantasy Football?

The running back position is a difficult one right now. Among RBs that were significantly unrostered after Week 1, there were virtually no names worth grabbing. Cleveland Browns running back Raheim Sanders took three carries for three yards and a rushing touchdown, but that's about it.

Your best bet is to hold a handcuff or a high-upside rookie on a good offense. Players like Kansas City Chiefs RB Brashard Smith and Los Angeles Rams tailback Jarquez Hunter fit this bill, and they're on teams with highly inefficient running backs leading the way.

Having handcuffs that actually have a chance of eating into the workloads of their teams' starters, and potentially taking over their roles, is generally a better prospect in fantasy football. Bigsby doesn't have a chance of eating into Barkley's role.

If you're in a league that has Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten available on waivers, though, you should blow a ton of FAAB to try to get him, and have no qualms with using your waiver spot to pick him up. He's one of the most elite athletes at his position in the NFL, and has gargantuan, league-winning upside.

And it's likely that the Jaguars were so comfortable trading away Bigsby because they love what they see in Tuten.
