Should I Drop Daniel Jones In Week 6? Fantasy Football Outlook

Daniel Jones - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Should I drop Daniel Jones for fantasy football Week 6? Is Daniel Jones a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.

Daniel Jones and the New York Giants are off to a horrid start this season. The team is 1-4 heading into Week 6 and has probably knocked itself out of playoff contention.

Jones signed a four-year $160 million contract extension this past offseason, but so far, it has seemed like the franchise made the wrong decision.

Over the past five weeks, he has accumulated just 61.1 points in full PPR-scoring leagues and is ranked #22 among the quarterbacks. Heading into this season, Jones was the #13-ranked QB in fantasy football, but his performances have made many fantasy football managers question the decision to keep him on their roster.  Should you drop him from your fantasy football team? Let's take a look at his fantasy outlook going forward.

Daniel Jones Fantasy Outlook

So far this season, Jones has thrown for 884 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions in five games, for a passer rating of 71.7. He is averaging just 176.8 passing yards per game while rushing for 197 yards on 38 carries with one rushing touchdown.

The Giants' offensive line is a mess, and with Saquon Barkley not close to being fully healthy, Jones' performances are unlikely to get better. Moreover, the team has failed to utilize Darren Waller effectively, as the other receivers are not making plays to help the quarterback.

In their next seven games before the bye week, the Giants will face the Buffalo Bills, the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Jets, and the New England Patriots. All these teams have excellent defenses, which will make life tough for the 26-year-old quarterback.

They'll face the Washington Commanders twice as well during that seven-game span, and inter-division rivalries are usually very tight. As a result, the chances of Daniel Jones redeeming himself are very low.

Can I Drop Daniel Jones in Fantasy Football?

Based on the assessment provided above, you should definitely consider dropping Daniel Jones from your fantasy football teams. In his place, quarterbacks like Desmond Ridder and Derek Carr could be considered to be picked up from the waivers.

Both Ridder and Carr have much more favorable fixtures than Jones, and with their teams fully bought in with them, they are likely to accumulate some good points going forward.

Carr has thrown for 946 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions in five games this season with a passer rating of 86.1. Carr is coming off arguably his best game of the season, similar to Ridder. In five games this season, the Falcons quarterback has thrown for 1,073 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions while having a passer rating of 85.8.
