Evan Engram Raves About Broncos Offense
Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram failed to reach 500 receiving yards in his first season with the team, scoring only one touchdown, but to hear him tell it, big things are in store not just for him, but for the entire Broncos offense in year one under new play-caller Davis Webb. "One of the most impressive things is he's really just kind of built something for everybody," Engram recently shared with the media. "Everybody's got plays. Anytime anybody is getting the ball, it's an explosive. You look at Pat Bryant and the camp he's having. [Courtland Sutton], he's balling as usual. Troy Franklin's flying all over the field. The running backs are getting active. Tight ends are making plays." The Broncos finished 10th in the league by yards per game in 2025 while ranking 14th by points scored, but following the addition of wide receiver Jaylen Waddle via trade and the drafting of running back Jonah Coleman into an already deep room of J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, expectations are in place for a major step forward. Malik Nabers Not Participating in Joint Practice
New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (knee) is not participating in Thursday's joint practice with the Miami Dolphins as he continues to work his way back from the severe knee injury that ended his 2025 season. Nabers only recently began participating in full team drills while wearing a red non-contact jersey, so it comes as no surprise that he is being held out of the less predictable setting of joint practice. Head coach John Harbaugh told the media on Tuesday that Nabers would need to shed the red jersey and absorb contact before being considered for regular season action, but indicated that hurdle would not be cleared against the Dolphins. The team remains hopeful that Nabers will be available for a Week 1 divisional clash with the Cowboys on September 13, and the former sixth overall pick, who broke the Giants' single-season rookie reception record on his way to a WR7 finish in 2024, is RotoBaller's WR12.

Baker Mayfield Thinks Bucs will Shock a Lot of People in 2026
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is excited and ready for the season. He expressed his confidence by taking a question on Wednesday about the team's Week 1 matchup in Cincinnati and saying, "It's just the Bucs against everybody else in that city you're going to... I think we're going to shock a lot of people this year, so I'm excited to just get on the road and do that." Mayfield is in the final year of the three-year, $100 million extension and was unable to reach a new extension this offseason. He took a step back last year, with 3,693 yards and 26 touchdowns after posting 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns in 2024. He played through injury during the season, which ended with the Bucs just missing the playoffs. He'll look to post a big year and earn a new deal, and he starts the year ranked as the No. 17 QB in RotoBaller's rankings.

Tai Felton a Top Performer in Camp, Pushing for WR3 Role
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Tai Felton has been one of the team's top performers this training camp, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. Felton was a third-round pick out of Maryland before last season but only had three catches for 25 yards in his rookie season, contributing mostly on special teams. This season, though, he has been pushing newly acquired Jauan Jennings for playing time with an outstanding training camp, earning praise for his route-running and winning contested catches in the red zone and in the open field. Felton is still a deep-league sleeper at this point, but he's definitely a name to watch since the Vikings' passing game could get a boost with Kyler Murray stepping in as the starting QB. Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison will get most of the work, but Felton is a name to know late in drafts, and he could quickly emerge as a waiver wire option if he earns playing time.

Kaleb Johnson on the Roster Bubble, Unlikely to Make the Team
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kaleb Johnson is in a battle for his roster spot and could end up not making the final roster, according to The Athletic's Mike DeFabo. Johnson was the team's third-round pick just over a year ago, but he didn't make much of a positive impact as a rookie and has struggled in limited work in training camp. He only had two carries for three yards in the team's preseason game and was most notable for being yelled at on the sideline by special teams coach Danny Crossman. Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle will likely get most of the work at running back for the Steelers, with Travis Homer mixing in as a specialist. Lew Nichols seems to have passed Johnson as well, which puts Johnson in danger of being cut if he doesn't step up in the rest of the preseason. Johnson isn't a fantasy factor at this point, but his roster status is worth watching.

Jordan Mason Standing Out at Training Camp
Minnesota Vikings running back Jordan Mason has been one of the top performers in Vikings' camp, according to The Athletic's Alec Lewis. Despite continuing to share work with Aaron Jones, Mason has been able to show off good burst and is fitting well into the offense. He ripped off a long run in the joint practice against the Ravens on Wednesday and could earn an expanded role if he continues to mesh well with new quarterback Kyler Murray. In addition to the new QB, the Vikings overhauled the outside zone run scheme to be closer to what Mason excelled in during his time in San Francisco. After running for 758 yards and six touchdowns last year, Mason could be even more effective in his second season with the Vikings. He's currently ranked as the No. 37 RB in RotoBaller's rankings, but the reports from camp have him on the rise, with the potential to outperform that rating if he can claim a larger portion of the timeshare.

Bryce Young Looks Solid in Joint Practice with Jaguars
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young had a strong showing in Wednesday's joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Young and second-year receiver Tetairoa McMillan were nearly automatic, making life difficult for the Jaguars' defense. Young has reportedly had a great camp as he enters a contract year in 2026. Despite never averaging more than 14 fantasy points per game in any season of his three-year career, Young led the Panthers to their first division title since 2015 last season and scored 31 points against the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round. With McMillan, Jalen Coker, Xavier Legette, and now tight end Darren Waller forming a solid receiving corps, Young could be in line for his best fantasy season to date in 2026.

Darnell Mooney Leads Giants' Wideouts in Targets During Training Camp
New York Giants wide receiver Darnell Mooney has been the most targeted wide receiver at training camp. According to Giant Insider, Mooney has consistently worked with the first-team offense and is expected to play a major role in 2026. The former Bears and Falcons wide receiver is coming off a disappointing year, totaling just 443 yards and one touchdown in 15 games last season. Mooney signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Giants and is competing for a prominent role alongside star Malik Nabers. With Nabers missing most of training camp while recovering from a torn ACL, Mooney has made an impact. From a fantasy perspective, Mooney is a long shot to be a major factor, as the team is expected to be run-heavy and use a lot of heavy personnel.

Jer'Zhan Newton Has Surgery for Torn Pectoral Muscle
Washington Commanders defensive lineman Jer'Zhan Newton (pectoral) underwent surgery on Wednesday to fix a torn pectoral muscle and is expected to miss a significant period of time, a source told John Keim of ESPN. Newton played into the middle of the second quarter of the team's preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins last Friday and sustained the injury in that contest. The former second-rounder in 2024 was expected to be part of the Commanders' defensive line in 2026, backing up defensive end starters Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw. He was being used as an end in the team's base package and as a tackle in their nickel scheme, providing plenty of versatility inside and out. In his first two seasons in the NFL in Washington, the Illinois product has recorded 82 tackles (40 solo), seven sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in 33 games played (13 starts). Defensive lineman Tim Settle (foot) is also recovering from a Lisfranc injury suffered last December, but the Commanders are hoping he can start "ramping up" his practice activity next week.

Tetairoa McMillan Gives Jaguars Defense Issues in Joint Practice
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan was reportedly unguardable during the Panthers' joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to Jaguars beat writer John Shipley, McMillan gave the Jaguars' defense fits and connected well with quarterback Bryce Young. The reigning AP Offensive Rookie of the Year hauled in 70 of 122 targets for 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025, but is expected to take on a larger workload this season. McMillan told the media Wednesday that coaches are moving him around the formation to create mismatches. Currently ranked WR26 in RotoBaller's positional rankings, McMillan is a great value looking to build on a strong rookie season.

Elijah Arroyo Rising at Seahawks Training Camp
Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo is rising at training camp and could make an impact in his second season. Arroyo is coming off a disappointing production season, totaling 179 yards and one touchdown in 13 games. Behind starter AJ Barner, Arroyo is likely to have a difficult time being a fantasy-relevant piece, but he has been a standout in recent weeks at camp. Barner said earlier this week that "he's balling. It's going to be a big year for him and the rest of the tight ends." New offensive coordinator Brian Fleury is expected to run a lot of 12- and 13-personnel this season, which should help Arroyo get on the field and make an impact. While Barner is likely to remain the TE1 this season, Arroyo could be an intriguing name to watch in deep leagues or dynasty formats.

Sean Tucker Involved in Passing Game
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Sean Tucker has been involved in the passing game at practice and in preseason action. Tucker has caught multiple swing passes in training camp and hauled in two targets for 11 yards in the preseason opener against the New York Jets. Although starters Bucky Irving and Kenneth Gainwell did not play in that game, Tucker played all 21 snaps with the second team and ran 13 routes. With offensive coordinator Zac Robinson now in Tampa Bay, running backs will need to be involved in the passing game, as Bijan Robinson and Kyren Williams have been in his offense. While Tucker is clearly the RB3 on this team, potential goal-line work and handcuff value keep him fantasy-relevant this season.

Ty Johnson Still Not Practicing with Knee Injury
Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (knee) is still not practicing after an apparent lower-body injury sustained during a scrimmage on August 10th. Johnson limped off after falling on a route and left with his arm wrapped around a trainer. The Bills have been quiet about Johnson's status, with head coach Joe Brady saying they would know an answer a week after the injury. If Johnson ends up missing time during the season, starter James Cook could see more receiving work. There have been rumors that Cook will have a bigger role in the passing game, and Johnson's injury could open the door for those wishes to come true. Fantasy managers should evaluate Johnson's status heading into the beginning of the season, as this could have direct implications for Cook's role.

Jake Ferguson Could See Targets Dip in 2026
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson could see fewer targets this season with other playmakers around him. Ferguson had a career season in 2025, hauling in 82 of 102 targets for 600 yards and eight touchdowns, though star wideout CeeDee Lamb missed time with a hamstring injury. In the four games Lamb missed, Ferguson averaged 7.5 receptions for 51 yards and four touchdowns. In the other 13 games, Ferguson averaged only 6.7 half-PPR fantasy points per game, which would have ranked him outside the top 20 tight ends last season. Now, young receiver Ryan Flournoy is emerging as the clear third receiver in this offense, which could take more targets away from the Cowboys' starting tight end. Fantasy managers should look to other options at tight end rather than pay a high price for Ferguson, who made his mark after injuries to the team's top receivers.

Dalton Schultz In Line for More Targets in Houston
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz could see more targets after the devastating injury to wide receiver Jayden Higgins. Higgins suffered a torn ACL during their joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday, ending his season before it began. Higgins was having a fantastic training camp and was shaping up for a big year, but targets will now shift to other weapons. Schultz has had over 85 targets in each of the last six seasons, including a career-high 106 targets with Higgins healthy last season. Schultz has a legitimate shot to be the second-highest target-getter in Houston behind star wideout Nico Collins, with Tank Dell (knee) expected to be limited in the early portion of the season. Ranked as the TE23 in RotoBaller's positional rankings, Schultz is currently a great value in fantasy drafts and could easily surpass the 106 targets he had in the 2025 season.
