Zamir White, 2022 Outlook: Could Exceed Expectations With Las Vegas
3 years agoWhite received the nickname "Zeus" as he developed into a football and track star in high school and later emerged as the ninth overall player and the highest-ranked running back among all members of his 2018 class. He also suffered two torn ACLs before registering a touch at Georgia, but eventually started 22 games, and led the Bulldogs in attempts (144), rushing yardage (779), and rushing touchdowns (11) during 2020. He also paced the team in each category in 2021 (160 attempts/856 yards/11 touchdowns) and generated those results while operating in a backfield that contained an abundance of talent. White raised his stock considerably at the NFL Combine by completing the 40-yard dash in 4.40, and tying for first among backs in the broad jump (10', 8"). He joins a Raider backfield that has been led by Josh Jacobs in attempts (17.0 per game), rushing yardage (71.8 per game), and rushing touchdowns (28) during each of the last three seasons. However, Las Vegas head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler traded up to secure White in Round 4 of April's NFL Draft, while also eschewing their chance to exercise the fifth-year option on Jacobs. This bodes well for White, who is physical, explosive, and can also be effective between the tackles. He should confiscate a percentage of early-down snaps from Jacobs, and his workload could expand considerably if Jacobs is no longer on the roster in 2023. White can be targeted at his ADP in dynasty start-up drafts (130/RB43) and should exceed the expectations of his draft position in best-ball leagues (250/RB64).
