Zack Gelof, Seth Brown Resting In Game 1
6 months agoOakland Athletics second baseman Zack Gelof and outfielder Seth Brown will retreat to the bench on Sunday for Game 1 of a doubleheader in Minnesota against the Twins. Abraham Toro will make the start at the keystone and bat leadoff, with Daz Cameron in right field and batting seventh against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober. J.D. Davis slots in at third and is hitting sixth for the A's. Gelof impressed in his first taste of the big leagues in 2023 but has struggled mightily in 2024, hitting .188/.245/.313 with five home runs, 14 RBI and seven stolen bases in 192 at-bats. Brown has only three hits in his last 35 at-bats and has been equally as bad as Gelof, slashing .188/.251/.301 with five home runs, 14 RBI and four stolen bases in 176 at-bats for the A's. Toro has been cold in June, going 8-for-51 (.157) with a homer, four RBI and 13 strikeouts in 13 games.
