1 year agoFree-agent forward Zach Parise won't be at the New York Islanders' training camp, general manager Lou Lamoriello announced on Monday. Parise became an unrestricted free agent following last season. In May, he said he would either retire or return for another year with the Islanders. The 39-year-old is currently focused on having family time at home in Minnesota. However, Lamoriello didn't rule out his eventual return. "I think he made the right decision for his family, and then we'll just keep the door open for him," Lamoriello said. "And as I said to him, we'll keep the number (No. 11) open, too." Lamoriello added that he didn't "feel" Parise would be retiring at this point. The left winger enjoyed a decent campaign with the Islanders in 2022-23, finishing as the team's third-best scorer with 21 markers and notching 34 points in total across 82 outings.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
