Yoshinobu Yamamoto Throws Bullpen, Will Face Hitters On Friday
4 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (triceps) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday in Los Angeles on Tuesday that consisted of around 40 pitches, simulating an inning break part of the way through. Yamamoto will join the Dodgers in St. Louis this weekend and throw to hitters on Friday. The Japanese starter is progressing towards a minor-league rehab assignment. He has not pitched for the Dodgers since June 15, so it's likely that he'll need more than one rehab start, meaning there's a good chance we won't see Yamamoto back in the big-league rotation until early September. While the 25-year-old big offseason acquisition has had some bumps in his first big-league season, overall he's been solid for fantasy managers with six wins, a 2.92 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a strong 27.9% strikeout rate in his first 14 starts for LA. He shouldn't be available on the waiver wire.
