Yankees Move Clarke Schmidt To 60-Day Injured List
6 months agoThe New York Yankees transferred right-hander Clarke Schmidt (lat) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured before Tuesday's game. It doesn't really change much in terms of Schmidt's timetable after he was shut down from throwing for four to six weeks after initially being placed on the 10-day IL on May 30 with a lat injury. The 28-year-old is eligible to come off the IL on July 26, but there's still a chance he won't be ready at that time. Fantasy baseball managers will have a better idea of when he might be able to return to New York's starting rotation once he starts a throwing program to build his right arm back up. Before his injury, Schmidt was having a breakout campaign, going 5-3 with a 2.52 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with a career-high 27.1% strikeout rate in 60 2/3 innings over his 11 starts. Fantasy managers holding him must remain patient.
