William Nylander Moving To Center In Training Camp
1 year agoToronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander will be used as a center at the start of training camp. The 27-year-old was initially drafted as a center back in 2014, but he's mostly played on the wing for the team, featuring in the middle only in the case of injuries. "We'll commit to it for a bit here," head coach Sheldon Keefe said of the decision. "(We're) not committing to any sort of specific period of time, but just to say it's not going to be a one-off or a one-day thing or a one preseason game. We want to give it some time to come together just to see what that looks like." Nylander has previously played at center for Keefe in the AHL. Should he fit into the position, the Maple Leafs would find themselves with some incredible center depth, as Keefe could then send out Nylander, Auston Matthews, and John Tavares in different units.
