White Sox Calling Up Brooks Baldwin
5 months agoAmong a flurry of roster moves heading into the second half of the season, the Chicago White Sox are calling up infield prospect Brooks Baldwin from Triple-A Charlotte, according to sources. The White Sox designated infielder Danny Mendick for assignment and optioned infielder Lenyn Sosa to Charlotte on Wednesday, making room for Baldwin and the recently signed Nick Senzel. Baldwin hit .322/.386/.441 with six homers, 16 doubles and 16 steals for Double-A Birmingham before the 23-year-old switch-hitter was promoted to Charlotte. At Charlotte, he hit .345/.441/.655 in eight games and now could see playing time at the hot corner in Chicago, at least until Yoan Moncada (groin) comes off the injured list. The former 12th-round pick in 2022 out of UNC Wilmington is the club's No. 23 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and deserves attention in at least AL-only leagues for his power/speed combo.
