Whit Merrifield Steals Yankees Mojo
7 years agoKansas City Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield doesn’t care that C.C. Sabathia’s a lefty. He stole third after a leadoff double in the first, and then apparently decided that was so easy, he’d take second a couple times to make it more challenging. Merrifield’s three hits on the day also brought his season average up to .300, and the three swipes put him back in second place in the American League in stolen bases. Merrifield looks like he’s a lock to surpass 30 stolen bases again this year, but he probably won’t be able to reach the same 19 home run plateau he made it to last year. Either way, a .300 average with 30 steals is a pretty valuable second baseman.
