What To Do With Zane Smith In DFS This Weekend?
5 months agoZane Smith will start 27th in Sunday's Brickyard 400 from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. While Sunday will mark the first Cup start on the Indianapolis oval for several drivers in this weekend's field, for Zane Smith, it will be the first oval start in any of NASCAR's three main levels. Given this inexperience, his efforts in Saturday's practice session becomes even more important, as it is all we really have to build our analysis off of. Unfortunately for the 25-year-old, the practice data was a bit underwhelming. With just the 25th best practice time (50.246), which came on his last lap of the session, the Spire Motorsports star lacked the speed to give us any real confidence to get behind him this weekend. While his incredibly low $5,600 DraftKings salary, combined with a starting position that offers place differential upside, keep him from being a fade, he is by no means a core play. If you are looking for a salary-saving move, Zane Smith is certainly worth being on your radar, but just know he is nothing more than a dart throw in a race that experience is expected to play major role in.
