Washington Not Giving Up On Dwayne Haskins Jr.
4 years agoWashington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera said he hasn't quit on quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr., who was demoted to the third-string QB before the Week 5 game against the Rams. Washington has dodged questions about whether Haskins is on the trade block, but Rivera isn't giving up on the 23-year-old second-year player. "Again, as I said, I have not quit on the kid as far as his development," Rivera told reporters Wednesday. "This is an opportunity for him to continue to learn and grow and develop." Kyle Allen and Alex Smith have a better understanding of the system and give the team a better chance to win right now. Haskins might still be the guy long-term in Washington, but he doesn't appear to have a shot at returning to the starting gig in 2020 anytime soon.
