Wade Miley Agrees With Reds
5 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds officially agreed to a two-year, $15 million deal with left-handed starter Wade Miley on Wednesday, according to a source. The deal includes a team option for 2022 that can bring the total value of the contract to $24 million. The 33-year-old southpaw was 14-6 with a 3.98 ERA and 140 strikeouts for the Astros in 2019, but he made just once appearance in the American League Division Series and was left off the rosters for the AL Championship and the World Series. Miley was 7-4 with a 3.28 ERA in his first 18 starts, but he posted a 5.07 ERA after the All-Star break over 15 outings. He doesn't strike many hitters out with his soft arsenal, but he also hasn't missed a start since July of 2018. He'll be reunited with former pitching coach Derek Johnson in Cincinnati and will join a rotation that includes Luis Castillo, Trevor Bauer, Sonny Gray and Anthony DeSclafani.
