Wade Davis Placed On Injured List
6 years agoThe Colorado Rockies placed closer Wade Davis (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a left oblique strain and recalled pitcher Jairo Diaz from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Starter Tyler Anderson (knee) was also moved to the 60-day injured list after having knee surgery. He will miss the rest of the year. Oblique strains can be tricky for pitchers, so Davis could be out for a month or longer. The 33-year-old was having a good year with seven saves, a 2.45 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 18 K's in his 14 2/3 innings. Keep him stashed everywhere. Expect Colorado to move to a committee approach in the ninth inning featuring Scott Oberg, Carlos Estevez and Bryan Shaw. It's anyone's guess right now as to who might be the favorite for saves moving forward in Davis' absence.
