Tyson Neighbors Strikes Out Two In Pro Debut

San Diego Padres pitching prospect Tyson Neighbors struck out two batters in one inning of relief in his professional debut for Single-A Lake Elsinore on Wednesday. The 2024 fourth-round pick out of Kansas State impressed in his first professional baseball appearance. Neighbors features three high-quality pitches led by his 70-grade slider. He backs that up with a 65-grade fastball and a 60-grade curveball. The 21-year-old was considered to be one of the top bullpen arms in the draft and profiles as a potential future closer. He could find his way to the Padres bullpen by next season sometime if San Diego chooses to be aggressive with his progression.
