Tyronn Lue Continues To See Russell Westbrook As Starter
1 year agoLos Angeles Clippers point guard Russell Westbrook is set to start his first full season with the team and head coach Tyronn Lue has no plans to change his role, meaning the former MVP will stick with the starting unit. "I view him as a starter, view him as a starter and, you know, kind of just see how it plays out," Lue said of Westbrook. "... We needed his energy, we needed his firepower and so he was really good for us. My vision right now is to stay how we were before PG got hurt and see what happens." Westbrook dropped to the bench whilst with the Lakers last season but started all 21 games with the Clippers after switching teams in February. He averaged 15.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 7.9 assists with the team. However, Westbrook played only 230 minutes together with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, and we didn't really get a clear picture of how things work between the three superstars. If the chemistry isn't there, Lue will be forced to rethink his initial plan.
