Tyreek Hill 2018 Outlook: Dynamic Deep Threat Continues To Be Disrespected
6 years agoIn 2016, Tyreek Hill burst onto the scene as this explosive gadget player - a newer, faster, better version of Percy Harvin. In 2017, he was severely undervalued because many fantasy owners did not realize he was a legitimate WR1. After the 2017 season, he obviously silenced the critics, right? Right! Wrong! Despite finishing as the PPR WR7, he is trending outside the top 12 this season. There are concerns about his efficiency, concerns about how all of his touchdowns came from 30+ yards out, his lack of red zone targets (just four last season), Patrick Mahomes; Sammy Watkins' presence... To all of those concerns, we say this: what more does this guy have to do? He's not as boom or bust as football fans may think, finishing in the top 10 in FFToday's consistency rankings. He was more consistent than players like Adam Thielen, Keenan Allen, and Julio Jones. Hill is the best deep threat in the league and Mahomes' gunslinger play style suits Hill far better than Alex Smith. There's no reason to expect Hill to touch the ball any less than the 122 times he did last season after how well he performed. This idea that Watkins will hurt Hill is false. Hill will once again be a mid WR1 and he is one of the few WRs outside the truly elite that has legitimate overall WR1 upside if he ever got the volume. His ADP notwithstanding, Hill is a worthwhile pick as early as the second round.
