Tyler Stephenson Getting A Breather Tuesday
1 year agoCincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson is taking the day off on Tuesday against the visiting Miami Marlins. In his absence, Luke Maile is doing the catching and is hitting ninth against Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett. Stephenson's disappointing 2023 campaign continues, as he's now gone 10-for-52 (.192) with a homer, a double, two RBI, 12 strikeouts and six runs scored in 18 games (15 starts) since the All-Star break. The 26-year-old backstop is still an option in single-catcher leagues because of the lack of depth at the position, but he's batting a disappointing .245 (87-for-355) on the year with eight home runs, 14 doubles, a triple, 39 RBI and 47 runs scored in 104 total games.
