Tyler O'Neill Not Playing Tuesday
8 months agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill (head) is not in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday against the visiting Cleveland Guardians after colliding with third baseman Rafael Devers in the outfield on Monday and being pulled from the game. The 28-year-old walked off the field under his own power and had a cut on his head, and he is now in the league's concussion protocol after needing eight stitches. It remains to be seen if O'Neill is actually dealing with a concussion, but he'll miss at least one game this week after the collision. The Red Sox and fantasy managers would hate to see O'Neill, who is hitting .313 (15-for-48) and already has seven home runs on the year, land on the seven-day concussion injured list. Jarren Duran is in left field for Boston on Tuesday and is hitting leadoff, while Wilyer Abreu is in right field and hitting fifth against Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee. UPDATE: Manager Alex Cora said O'Neill cleared the concussion protocol and is doing better. He'll sit out Tuesday and Wednesday, but the hope is he'll be back in the lineup on Thursday.
