Tyler Mahle Could Crack Spot In Reds Rotation In 2018
7 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Tyler Mahle should have the opportunity to make the Reds rotation in 2018. The right-hander got a cup of coffee with the club towards the end of the 2017 season and didn't disappoint. Over four starts, Mahle allowed six runs in 20 innings while striking out 14 batters. The downfall in his short time was that he walked 11 batters. His strikeouts were down from his minor league numbers and the walks were up, but with such a small sample size, there is not too much to worry about. Mahle is worth a look in dynasty leagues and even though he should have a good shot to make the Opening Day roster, he is best served as someone to keep an eye on. Mahle will have the tough task of being a rookie in a very tough division that has the Cubs, Brewers and Cardinals offenses. He is more of a player to look at down the line and not a must-draft in 2018 unless you want to throw a dart and take a chance in NL-only leagues.
