Tyler Locklear Recalled And Starting On Tuesday
5 months agoThe Seattle Mariners recalled infield prospect Tyler Locklear from Triple-A Tacoma, and he's starting at first base and batting sixth for the M's on Tuesday against the visiting division-rival Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Jose Soriano. Locklear, the club's No. 6 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has an opportunity to carve out regular playing time at the cold corner in Seattle now that Ty France is no longer on the roster. The 23-year-old right-handed hitter went just 6-for-30 (.200) in his first 11 big-league games earlier this year but also had two home runs, a double and three RBI while fanning 12 times. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder has excellent raw power, making him intriguing in deep-mixed leagues for those in need of some pop down the stretch. Locklear had an .887 OPS at two minor-league levels for the Mariners this year, and they're hoping he'll help boost their offense in the coming weeks and months.
