Tyler Black Heads Back To The Minors
11 months agoMilwaukee Brewers infield prospect Tyler Black has been optioned back to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday with outfielder Christian Yelich (back) being reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Black, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, went 5-for-22 (.227) with two doubles, no RBI, two stolen bases, a run scored, one walk and eight strikeouts in his first seven major-league games with the Brew Crew. The 23-year-old started five of the seven games he was with the team but will now head back to the farm to hone his craft for the next time the Brewers call on him. The former 33rd overall pick in 2021 out of Wright State broke out in the minors last year and will likely be the next man up to the big leagues if the Brewers suffer another injury to their position-player crop. The left-handed-hitting corner infielder has displayed great plate discipline in his rise up the system.

Tyler Black Optioned To Triple-A
6 days agoMilwaukee Brewers infielder Tyler Black has been optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. The 24-year-old is one of the better hitting prospects in the Brewers system. However, he'll head back to the minors for more work after a rough showing during spring training. Black played in 18 games with the Brewers last season, but he didn't do much at the plate. The expectation is that Black will get another chance at the big league level at some point in 2025. For now, Black will head to the minors to begin the regular season.

Tyler Black Returns On Sunday
4 weeks agoMilwaukee Brewers infielder Tyler Black (back) made his spring training debut on Sunday. Black has been sidelined during the early part of camp with a minor back injury. However, seeing him return to action suggests he should not face any restrictions by Opening Day. In his debut, he went 0-for-3 at the plate. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut last summer. Across 18 contests, Black held a .204/.316/.245 slash line two doubles. He showed an elite eye at the plate as he drew walks at a 12.3 percent rate. At Triple-A, the infielder posted a .258/.374/.429 slash line with 14 doubles, 14 home runs, and 20 stolen bases. He held a solid 61:87 BB:K ratio. Fantasy managers should expect Black to continue competing for a depth role in the Milwaukee infield throughout spring training.
