Fresh off of his fourth top-five finish of the season, Ty Gibbs will be looking to build on his momentum in this weekend's South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. However, the question is, will he be able to do that? The intermediate tracks haven't been kind to this year's Rookie of the Year contender, as he has four finishes outside of the top 20 entirely out of the five races on this track type. Gibbs did come home with a 14th-place finish at Kansas in mid-September, though. As far as practice speeds this weekend, the No. 54 Toyota looked sporty, ranking ninth-fastest in single-lap time and seventh-fastest in ten-lap average. There's some upside here with Ty Gibbs this weekend, but history has shown that the risk may not be worth the reward.--Jordan McAbee
