Triston McKenzie Could Be Out Up To Eight Weeks
2 years agoCleveland Guardians starting pitcher Triston McKenzie is dealing with a right teres major muscle sprain and will be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks. According to the Guardians, it may be up to eight weeks before McKenzie is able to make his 2023 season debut. It's tough news for Cleveland and fantasy managers that already took McKenzie in drafts this spring. The 25-year-old right-hander will now begin the season on the injured list, and fantasy managers need to keep him stashed until he's ready to return. It's unclear who will join the team's starting rotation with McKenzie on the shelf. He was excellent for the Guardians in 2022, going 11-11 with a career-best 2.96 ERA (3.59 FIP), 0.95 WHIP and 25.6 percent strikeout rate in 31 appearances (30 starts) during the regular season.
