Trey Sermon Scores Eagles Lone Offensive Touchdown

Philadelphia Eagles running back Trey Sermon took nine carries for 21 yards and a touchdown, adding one reception on two targets for nine yards, during the team's 20-19 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The former San Francisco 49er also saw usage as a kick returner. Plenty of puff pieces have been coming out of Eagles camp about how much they like Sermon, but playing exclusively with the third-string offense does not convey that feeling. Averaging 2.3 yards per carry is not ideal, but the majority of Eagles backs had a rough night behind the backup offensive line Saturday. Buried behind the likes of D'Andre Swift, Rashaad Penny, and Kenneth Gainwell on the depth chart, the 24-year-old will have a tough time getting on the field in any capacity other than being a part of the special teams unit unless an injury occurs. Watch to see if Sermon lands the gig as the lead kick returner next week when the first-team offense will likely be on the field to gauge his chances of making the final roster.
