Trey Sermon Hasn't Practiced This Week
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers rookie running back Trey Sermon (ankle) missed his second straight day of practice this week on Thursday. Sermon sprained his ankle in the Week 12 win over the Minnesota Vikings and is on track to miss this weekend's divisional tilt against the Seattle Seahawks. The third-rounder could also land on the short-term Injured Reserve, which would require him to miss three games. Rookie Elijah Mitchell is the team's unquestioned No. 1 RB and could see an even bigger workload with receiver Deebo Samuel (groin), who has been used more as a runner the last couple of weeks, expected to miss one to two weeks. Sermon has been mostly an afterthought in his rookie year, carrying the ball 41 times for 167 yards and one touchdown while adding three receptions for 26 yards in nine games played.
