Trey Burton 2018 Outlook: Talented Backup TE Finally Gets Chance To Shine In Starting Role
6 years agoI have always liked Trey Burton. I've been waiting for him to finally get out from underneath the shadow of Zach Ertz. He's finally received that chance. Burton has always excelled when stepping in for Ertz; a rare TE handcuff that you knew could match the production of the starter. Burton is undersized for a TE, but immensely athletic. He creates a mismatch when on the field, but is not a great blocker due to his size, which could result in fewer snaps than we like. Regardless, Burton has legitimate top five upside in a revamped Bears offense that projects to throw a lot more. I am a huge believer in Mitch Trubisky as a future top QB in this league so once the top five or six TEs are off the board, all I care about is upside. Burton is a great name to take a shot on.
