Trevor Story 2024 Outlook: A Veteran Due for a Bounceback Campaign
12 months agoTrevor Story had a lost 2023 season. A UCL injury prevented him from debuting until August, and he struggled with his timing upon returning to the tune of a .203/.250/.316 line with three homers and 10 SB in 168 PAs. It would be easy to count the 31-year-old out, but remember that Story slashed .238/.303/.434 with 16 HR and 13 SB in 396 PAs as recently as 2022. Fantasy managers love anyone who contributes power and speed, and Story fits the bill. He posted a 28.8 ft./sec Statcast Sprint speed and eight Outs Above Average in his limited playing time last season, suggesting he still has the athleticism to be a fantasy asset. The Red Sox also plan on batting Story cleanup to compliment their big left-handed bats such as Rafael Devers, Tristan Casas, and Masataka Yoshida, allowing the shortstop to punch above his weight in R+RBI. Assuming health, Story should be good for an average in the .240-.250 range while approaching at least a 20/20 season, making him a great value at his current ADP of 177.98.
