Trevor Rogers Spins Eight Scoreless in First Win
Trevor Rogers blanked the Texas Rangers over eight innings in his team's 6-0 win on Monday. The former first-round pick scattered three hits -- all singles -- and struck out four to earn his first win in three tries. Rogers was recalled last week and yielded five hits and three earned runs over 2 1/3 innings to a hot Tampa Bay Rays team, but was much better against the lowly Rangers. That's not to take away from the New Mexico native, however, as he boasted an excellent 2.79 xERA and .218 xBA against coming into this start after shutting out the Red Sox over 6 1/3 innings in a spot start (May 24). His next turn in the rotation will likely come against Tampa Bay again later in the week -- this time at home.
