Tony Wolters Sets Rockies Record
6 years agoColorado Rockies catcher Tony Wolters got a spot start on Friday after Tom Murphy left the team to be there for the birth of his child, and he took the opportunity to set a new Rockies record. Wolters drilled a pair of triples in the game, becoming the first Colorado catcher to ever record multiple triples in a single game. His three runs batted in also helped propel the team to their seventh win in eight games, and he'll likely get at least one more start since Murphy isn't expected back until Tuesday. He showed off his real talent by throwing out Dee Gordon on a stolen base, and as the best defensive catcher of Colorado's trio, he'll continue to get an odd start here or there after Murphy returns.
