After a rather pedestrian start to kick off his 2024 (38th out of 59 players at the Sentry Tournament of Champions), Tony Finau will be looking for his first taste of contention in over six months this week at the American Express. Finau has recorded top 20 finishes in three of his past four appearances here at PGA West dating back to 2020, and three of his last four Tour wins have come on similarly easy setups in Twin Cities, Vidanta Vallarta, and Detroit GC. A player with his ball-striking capabilities always presents a compelling upside case, but recent months have certainly lowered the week-to-week safety we once attributed to Finau's profile.--Ian McNeill - RotoBaller
