Tarik Cohen 2020 Outlook: Mid-Round Flex Target
5 years agoChicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen caught 79 passes on 104 targets for 456 yards and ran for another 213 yards on 64 carries in 2019. Cohen was the third most targeted running back in all of football last year, finishing behind only Christian McCaffrey and Austin Ekeler. He finished the season as fantasy’s No. 27 running back, scoring an average of 10.2 points per game in full PPR formats. Cohen’s role as the Bears’ primary pass-catching back is secured. The team did not add to their receiving corps, and they can not afford to marginalize a playmaker like Cohen. A potential switch to Nick Foles behind center bodes well for Cohen. Foles primarily works in the middle of the field. Since the majority of Cohen’s routes come out of the slot or backfield, the switch to Foles could grant Cohen additional opportunities in the passing game. He should once again eclipse the 100 target mark in 2020. Cohen is currently being drafted as the No. 40 running back in the NFFC. At this price, Cohen represents a great value and an excellent mid-round flex target. He can be drafted as a number three or four running back by fantasy owners and produce as their primary flex option in PPR formats. Cohen’s stock takes a significant hit in half-point PPR’s and standard leagues. He should be drafted as a bench back in half-PPRs and only a late-round flier in standard leagues.
