Steven Matz Rejoining Rotation Wednesday
5 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz threw a simulated game on Friday and will return to the starting rotation on Wednesday on the road against the Twins. The Mets sent Matz to the bullpen to close out the first half and get the struggling left-hander a little rest. The 28-year-old is 5-6 in 2019 with a 4.89 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 78 strikeouts in 81 innings over 16 starts and two relief appearances. He last started a game on June 29 against the Braves and allowed two earned runs in two innings. Matz is an incredibly risky fantasy option next week against the first-place Twins.
