Steven Brault Could Piggy-Back Chad Kuhl's Starts
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Steven Brault said the team has discussed the possibility of having him piggy-back Chad Kuhl's starts this year. Brault was pretty good for most of last season in 25 appearances (19 starts) for the Bucs, but a poor September left him with a 5.16 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 100 strikeouts and 53 walks in 113 1/3 innings. Because the 28-year-old left-hander will pitch in more of a swing role this year with Chris Archer out for the season, Brault won't have much fantasy relevance in fantasy leagues. He also dealt with a shoulder strain this spring, so Pittsburgh will be sure not to overwork him early on. Kuhl didn't pitch at all in 2019 after having Tommy John surgery, and he, too, won't be much of an option for fantasy owners in the shortened season.
