Sterling Shepard Cut By Giants
2 years agoThe New York Giants released wide receiver Sterling Shepard on Wednesday. When he took a pay cut last offseason, his new contract included an automatic void three days after the Super Bowl, so he is now officially a free agent. The Giants will carry a $4.3 million dead-money salary cap charge for Shepard this year. The 30-year-old has had a rough couple seasons, first tearing his Achilles in 2021 and then tearing his ACL in Week 3 of last year. He's played in a total of 10 games in that span, catching 49 passes for 520 yards and two touchdowns on 77 targets. Shepard will get a jump start on free agency, but it remains to be seen if any teams will take a chance on him after back-to-back devastating injuries the last two years. In his seven seasons with the G-Men, Shepard had 362 receptions for 4,038 yards and 22 touchdowns in 75 games played.
