Stephon Gilmore To Have Surgery Tuesday
4 years agoNew England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore (quadriceps), the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, suffered a partially torn quadriceps in the Week 15 loss to the Dolphins, according to sources. Gilmore will undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday but should be able to take part in some of the offseason program. The good news is that there wasn't any structural damage to his knee. It's a tough way for the 30-year-old All-Pro to end the season, but the Patriots no longer have anything to play for after being eliminated from the postseason. It'll give Gilmore a head start on his rehab so that he can be 100 percent healthy for training camp next summer. The Patriots Defense takes a hit with Gilmore out for the last two games. They'll be one to fade against the Bills on Monday night in Week 16.
