Steelers Defense 2020 Outlook: Positive Momentum Since Minkah Trade
5 years agoThe Steelers Defense was so good last year that they managed to win as many games as they lost while starting Duck Hodges and Mason Rudolph for a majority of the season. The Steelers were third by DVOA against the run and pass and they only lost Javon Hargrave to free agency. While Hargrave was a major piece of that interior, they will be starting 2020 with a healthy Stephon Tuitt. Tuitt happened to miss 10 games last year and while Tyson Alualu was a serviceable replacement, he remains one of the most underrated 3-4 DEs in the game. The Steelers' are going into year two with elite safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in their secondary and for anyone watching last season, his impact was palpable. The Steelers believed in him so much that they traded their first round draft pick that could have been used to tank and select a QB in the draft. The Steelers were winless through two weeks at the time of the trade but managed salvage their season afterwards. Fitzpatrick adds a level of security not only to the secondary but also lined up across the field as a queen piece. The Steelers are solid at every level of defense and should remain a valuable fantasy D/ST.
